Challenge:
KMW Ltd., a manufacturer of front-end loaders and
backhoes, wanted to enhance the design of its loader
bracket by predicting the product’s performance.
Solution:
AMI used an integrated analysis and test procedure to
optimize the loader bracket design. With this approach,
AMI calculated the loads the bracket was subjected to during the lab test, and then modeled the loader bracket for finite element analysis. After running several analyses and comparing the results to lab and field test data correlation was achieved and the result was a valid model.
AMI was then able to optimize the design utilizing the valid finite element model to meet durability and reliability requirements, while minimizing the need for additional testing. |
